Lukashenko reaffirms Belarus’ interest in dialogue with Palestine

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People observed on 29 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“I am convinced that in this time of hardship for the people of Palestine, the legacy of its first President Yasser Arafat, who was able to unite his compatriots and show the way to establishing long-term peace in the Holy Land, is especially in demand,” the message of greetings reads. “I am confident that de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East, the soonest achievement of peace and security will contribute to the stability and economic development of Palestine and the states of the entire region.”The president emphasized that Belarus firmly adheres to the position of ensuring the inalienable legitimate rights of the Palestinians to independence on the basis of the United Nations decisions on the establishment of two states for two peoples.Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed the closeness of the approaches of Belarus and Palestine to the expansion of international relations, which are based on the universally recognized principles of sovereign equality of the countries, mutual respect and consideration of interests.The head of state reiterated his interest in further deepening the friendly Belarusian-Palestinian dialogue and realizing the significant potential of cooperation, including in such sectors as industry, agriculture, food security, science and education.Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Mahmoud Abbas good health and successful realization of all plans, as well as prosperity and a peaceful future for the Palestinians.
