New Belarusian National History Museum set to open in 2026

The construction of a new building for the Belarusian National History Museum is expected to be completed in 2026, Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev told the media following the meeting hosted by the Belarusian president on 6 September, BelTA has learned.

 

The National History Museum will be located in the Tsentralny District of Minsk within the area of Pobeditelei Avenue, Orlovskaya Street and the Svisloch River. The People's Unity Park will be built here to become part of the open water-green space of the city.

 

The new building of the National History Museum will have the shape of the map of Belarus. The exposition of the museum will boast exhibits and information about the history of the Belarusian lands from ancient times to the present.

 

“The project has got support and the work will be continued. All the present [at the meeting] voiced their opinions. We plan to start designing the museum in the near future for the construction to commence at the start of the next year. We are set to involve construction enterprise of Minsk, design organizations in order to design a museum which will beautify our country. The museum’s completion and commissioning are targeted for 2026. The park on the grounds will be landscaped to create a full-fledged complex ensemble,” the Minsk mayor said.
